Go to welcome the samlon coming back.
Ohfishal program is included in this week's edition of The Issaquah Press
The 31st annual Issaquah Salmon Days festival is coming this weekend,
along with more than 200,000 humans who turn out to welcome the 30,000
salmon returning to our lakes, creeks and hatchery.
This year's theme of "Kids, Chaos, and Coho" will coincide with an expected
record run of coho at the state hatchery, and a record 24 floats and 12
bands in the Grande Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday.
There also will be 315 arts and crafts booths, 40 food booths featuring
foods of the world, live music on three stages, hundred of runners in the
Rotary Run on Sunday, and more than 60 local non-profit groups participating.
Old favorite activities such as the horseshoe tournament and trout pond
are returning, and new activities added.
"A fun addition will be at Pedestrian Park at Front and Sunset," said Robin
Kelley, director of the Festivals Office. "We encourage people to bring a
Xerox (paper) copy of their favorite photo of a catch" to go along with this year's logo of the then
4-year-old Dave Horrocks (deceased 1999) proudly holding up his fish.
"It will be a nice documentation of the excitement that Dave has brought to us this year," Kelley added.
